From the series "White Silence"

The winners and the runners-up of the "Professional Photographer of the Year (PPOTY) 2011" competition were anounced recently. I was chosen as a runner-up in the category "Breaking the Mould" (with a photo you can see at the top of this post).

Adam Scorey, competition judge and Group Editor of Professional Photographermagazine said:

“When we saw the final quantity of images entered, we were flabbergasted. However, what did dawn on us that we needed to shortlist 6,000-plus images to just 16! It took far longer than we initially thought, especially as at virtually every other image we were exclaiming “Wow!” The standard of entries, not that I am complaining, was very high in all categories, making the team’s job particularly hard. In the end, the process took six people about a week, on and off, to get to the initial shortlist of 160 images. Yes, there was a little argy-bargee with judges agreeing, but we got there in the end. I can’t wait until the 29th March to meet all of the winners, runners up, judges and sponsors at theprintspace for the awards evening. It will be a great night. There are rumours that a national broadsheet will be there too! May I take this opportunity to say a huge, massive, immense “Thank you,” too everyone, from the sponsors to the thousands of entrants across the globe, who supported us financially and took the time and made the effort to get involved. We will of course have another competition for 2012, which we will let you all know about as soon as possible – we need a little time to make room on our servers ready for the predicted quantity of uploads.”

Zenit, Kodak ISO200. Minsk, 2011

Frankly speaking, I don't tend to make self-portraits, altough I think it's pretty interesting. I made just a couple of them through my whole life. Here's one of them - with a flying banana :)

Zenit, Kodak ISO200. Minsk, 2011

Well, here I am finally. My name is Pavel Tereshkovets and my passion is photography. I come from a land you've probably never heard of - Belarus. If curious - use Google Maps, it's still there :)

Yeah, I know what you're about to ask. What the fuck do you need this blog for? You've your website out there! Well indeed, but on my website you can find only more or less finished projects. And I've got a whole bunch of just nice photos that I'd like to share with you all, folks. Don't think these photos are worth staying in my archives without reaching your eyes and evoking your feelings.

Have been thinking about creating a photo blog in English for a long time. And now that I really feel like wanting to share my works not only with Russian-speaking audience but with people worldwide, I think it's just the right time for it.

Stay tuned!
